Botanical & Ceremonial Context

Reserved for formal Japanese tea gatherings, Koicha is prepared with double the powder (4.0g) and half the water (30-35ml). It requires the highest tier of imperial ceremonial grade tea, as lower grades would taste unbearably bitter. Instead of whisking, the tea is gently kneaded in 360-degree rotations, producing a rich, sweet, syrupy liquor.
